I decided to get a B.F.A in Acting to the tune of $250,000! My family was spending a fortune on my education, and I seriously lacked direction and guidance. I felt in my soul that I wasn’t getting the individual attention I needed. After I graduated, I was left feeling alone and had no idea how to apply what I learned to become a real working actor. I spent months after graduation questioning the career decisions I was making and my indecisions left me feeling stagnant.

I was confused, frustrated, disappointed… and broke!

Because I didn’t know what to do, I decided to connect myself to famous actors who possessed qualities I liked. 

I wanted to be professional, confident, outgoing, and vulnerable. But after scouring the internet for videos and interviews, I quickly realized that these actors’ journeys were so different from mine. I scoured the internet for interviews with my favorite actors like Leonardo DiCaprio or Natalie Portman, seeking to find one shred of information about how they started their careers or see if I could apply it to mine, with little success. 

Leo’s story didn’t start with college debt and Natalie didn’t have to decide which casting website to apply to!

All their stories seemingly started after they already made it big and frankly no longer apply to actors in today’s age. 

So many of my heroes came up in a  different era—one where social media wasn’t even something to consider. It feels like the game is so different for today’s Modern Actor.

I didn’t have the money it took to get a publicist or the social media following to get brands to pay attention to me. My parents weren’t in the industry and I lived 3,000 miles away from Hollywood. My chances of making it were very slim. 

If I just had someone to guide me… tell me what the next steps were, then I knew I could follow their plan and execute. 

That hopeful wish was just that…hopeful.

I couldn’t keep wasting time playing it small, afraid I would make the wrong move.

And though the voice in my head was terrified that who I really was wasn't good enough to make it. The song in my heart became a deafening war cry.

So I decided to pack my bags and I moved across the country to Hollywood. I had to figure it out on my own. But you don’t have to.
