A Daily Meditation For The Modern Actor

Meditation. Once designated for monks and hippies is now as mainstream as ever.

From the beaches of Bali to the board room—high power CEO's, award winning actors and Olympic athletes have all incorporated a daily meditation practice.

Meditation has gone global and the benefits are vast.
Some benefits include: Calming the nervous system, healing the body, eliminating doubt and fear. Creating abundance and gratitude.

Meditation can do wonders for you and it requires nothing more than a comfortable seat and a few minutes of your day.

You might think this is crazy or "woo woo" (I mean I definitely did), but the very day I started meditating I went into a commercial audition more relaxed and confident than ever before.

I ended up booking the job with ease!

Meditation is scientifically proven to alter brain chemistry in those who practice daily. It can alter your thoughts about a certain topic or task and that in turn affects your reality.

Instead of approaching every audition with pressure and stress, meditating helps me bring awareness to the present moment and helps me get settled into my body. The biggest lesson it has taught me is to be grateful for every opportunity.

As I've filled these gaps with conscious awareness through meditation, I have only seen my life and career improve.

There are many different styles of meditation and the style that resonates with you comes down to personal preference. As my practice continues, I find that meditations that make me focus on my breath and use visualization are so helpful once I wake up or before a stressful audition.

What do you have to lose?

Meditation process (eyes closed):

 

  • Count Breaths- Deep Breathing (2 mins)

  • Think of all the times you have received or given LOVE (2 mins)

  • GRACE- Thank God/Universe for all it has already given you and for what is yet to give you. (Oscars, Series Reg, Nationals, Marriage, a good partner, etc) Ex. “Thank you God for making me a series regular and a national commercial booker!"

  • Visualize your deepest Endeavor in extreme detail. (Ex. “and the winner this year for best actor in a TV Series Comedy goes to….(Insert your name here)!” Here I usually see who’s in the crowd, my family, friends, the clothes I’m wearing, the comfort of my seat, etc… and BELIEVE IT!!)

  • Say this words out loud and fill in the blanks. I NOW ALLOW MYSELF TO HAVE_____________________. So be it. It is done.

  • Say these words out loud:

TODAY IS A GREAT DAY. THIS IS MY YEAR. IM EXPECTING AN ABUNDANCE OF FAVOR. IM GOING TO BE HAPPY TODAY. IM GOING TO BE GOOD TO PEOPLE. 

I AM GOING TO GO WITH THE FLOW AND NOT GET UPSET BECAUSE I KNOW GOD IS IN CONTROL. HE’S DIRECTING MY STEPS.I AM WELL ABLE TO DO WHAT IM CALLED TO DO.

NO OBSTACLE IS TOO BIG. NO DREAM IS TOO GREAT. Today is a great day.

  • Take a moment to speak with God and Wrap up the meditation. (PRAYER)
